A Turkish sailor removes the name from the Tang class submarine ex-Gudgeon (SSAG-567) during the transfer ceremony at Point Loma, CA. on 30 September 1983. The Gudgeon was decommissioned and is being immediately transferred to the Turkish Navy on a five-year lease. The submarine is being renamed to TCG Hizirreis (S-342).
