Topsail Schooner Eugenios Eugenidis

Post by Ayanamikun »

Eugenios Eugenidis is a three masted topsail schooner built in William & Denny Bros. shipyard, Dumbarton Scotland in 1929 as a private Yacht.
Over the years she was known as SUNBEAM, and FLYING CLIPPER. She was the set of 2 movies, "Flying Clipper" (1962) and "Lord Jim"(1965)

In 1965 she was bought by the Greek state with the help of a generous donation to serve as a training ship, which she did until 1990, when she was controversially decommissioned and left derelict. She was restored in 2005 and moored in the Naval tradition park along with the other museum ships there. Unfortunately she was restored as a stationary exhibit, the years of abandonment have left her unsuitable for sailing..
