83 years ago today, on 26 August 1941 Gato-class submarine USS Silversides SS-236 was launched at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, sponsored by Mrs. Elizabeth H. Hogan.

USS Gallup decommissioned

On 26 August 1945, Tacoma-class frigate USS Gallup (PF-47) was decommissioned at Cold Bay, AK and immediately transferred to the Soviet Union as EK-22 as part of Project Hula. After she was returned to the USN on 14 November 1949, she was finally transferred to Thailand on 29 October 1951 as HTMS Prasae.
She is now a museum ship at Paknam Prasae, Thailand
