On 2 July 1943, River-class frigate HMS Fal was commissioned.
She was transferred to Burma on 25 May 1947 as UBS Mayu, and has been preserved as a museum ship at Myanmar Naval Training Headquarters

USS Wisconsin decommissioned

77 years ago today, on 1 July 1948, Iowa-class battleship USS Wisconsin (BB-64) was decommissioned by her CO, CAPT. John Martin Higgins.

Here we see six sixteen inch guns of the Wisconsin fire a broadside at a target 15 miles away. This dramatic picture was made during the two weeks training cruise of the Wisconsin to the Canal Zone with 600 Naval Reservists aboard. Released 18 February 1947.
