USS Croaker open as museum ship

47 years ago today, on 23 April 1977, Gato-class submarine USS Croaker opened her doors as a museum ship in Groton, CT.
After 10 years  the Navy revoked its agreement with the group citing a requirement for historical preservation of the vessel. Since 1988, Croaker has served as a museum ship at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military ParkCountyBuffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park in Buffalo, New York.
