Alexander Henry becomes CCGS

64 years ago today, on 26 January 1962, Canadian icebreaker CGS Alexander Henry became part of the newly formed Canadian Coast Guard, changing its name to CCGS Alexander Henry.

Laffey recommissisoned

26 January 1951, Allen M. Sumner-class destroyer USS Laffey (DD-724) was recommissioned with Commander Charles Holovak in command. After shakedown out of San Diego, she headed for the East coast of the US, arriving at Norfolk in February for overhaul followed by refresher training at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. In mid January 1952, she sailed for Korea.
