USS Cobia recommissioned

72 years ago today, on 6 July 1951, Gato-clas submarine USS Cobia (SS-245) was commissioned for the second time. She trained reservists and Submarine School students at New London until placed in commission in reserve at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard 29 October 1953.

SS Keewatin launched

116 years ago today,  on 6 July 1907, Canadian SS Keewatin was launched at Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company. Govan, Scotland.
Currently undergoing maintenance at the Heddle Shipyards (Hamilton, ON, Canada), after which she will be part of The Marine Museum of the Great Lakes at Kingston.

On 6 July 1942, USS YMS-328 was laid down at Ballard Marine Railway Co., Seattle, Washington.
She became John Wayne's private yacht in 1962, and is now part of Hornblower cruises in Newport Beach, CA
