USS Eversole (DD-789) struck

On 21 September 1973, Gearing-class destroyer USS Eversole DD-789 was struck from the Naval Vessel Register. She was transferred to Tukey on 11 July 1973 as TCG Gayret (D-352), an is now a museum ship in Izmit, Turkey.

USS Gallup launched

On 17 September 1943, Tacoma-class frigate USS Gallup (PF-47) was launched at Consolidated Steel Corporation, Wilmington, CA, sponsored by Ensign Helen McMahon, NNRC. California. She was later transferred to, and returned by the Soviet Union, and finally transferred to Thailand on 29 October 1951 as HTMS Prasae.
She is now a museum ship at Paknam Prasae, Thailand.

Horst Wessel (USCGC Eagle) commissioned

On 17 September 1936, Gorch Fock-class sail training ship Horst Wessel was commissioned into the German Navy.
After WWII she became part of the USCG as war reparations and was commissioned by Captain Gordon McGowan as the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle on May 15 1946.
