She was transferred to Japan in April 1953 as JDS Himawari, on to Thailand as HTMS Nakha (LSSL-751) in 1966 and returned to the US in 2007. Now a museum ship in Vallejo, CA.

She was the first ship to be built in West Germany since World War II.
Currently drydocked at Mare Island awaiting scrapping.
