LCS(L)(3)-102 launched

3 February 1945, USS LCS(L)(3)-102 was launched at Commercial Iron works, Portland, OR.
She was transferred to Japan in April 1953 as JDS Himawari, on to Thailand as HTMS Nakha (LSSL-751) in 1966 and returned to the US in 2007. Now a museum ship in Vallejo, CA.

Wappen von Hamburg launched

70 years ago today, on 1 February 1955, MV 'Wappen von Hamburg' was launched for HADAG Seetouristik und Fährdienst AG at Blohm & Voss in Hamburg, Germany, intended to be used for day long cruise voyages from Hamburg, calling at Cuxhaven, Helgoland, and Hörnum. She was the first ship to be built in West Germany since World War II.
Currently drydocked at Mare Island awaiting scrapping.
