29 January 1944, Iowa-class battleship USS Missouri (BB-63) was launched at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, christened by Mary Margaret Truman, daughter of Harry S. Truman, then a United States Senator from Missouri.

Missouri opens to the public

27 years ago today, on 29 January 1999, 55 years after she was launched, Iowa-class battleship USS Missouri (BB-63) opens her gangway to the public as a museum ship, operated by the Missouri Memorial Association (MMA)

Everett F. Larson launched

On 28 January 1945, Gearing-class destroyer USS Everett F. Larson (DD-830) was launched at Bath Iron Works, Bath Maine, sponsored by Mrs. H. Larson, mother of PFC Larson.
She was transferred to South Korea on 30 October 1972 became a museum ship at the Gangneung Unification Park, Gangneung, South Korea.
Unfortunately she is no more, as she was recently scrapped.
