USN P22

The USN P22 Trust supports veterans and their families from all the armed forces past and present. We operate group or family trips to Sandwich Bay or as a static visitor centre.

The American naval P22 patrol boat was built in 1952, at the height of the Cold War, when Europe was in turmoil following the end of the Second World War P22 proudly sailed the Rhine ensuring security was upheld at a difficult time.

P22 is still a working boat and offers tours on the river Stour, as well as static tours where visitors can go below deck to truly understand the life of servicemen during those dark days.

P22 can be found in the heart of Sandwich, Kent on her own pontoon on the quay beside the historic Sandwich toll bridge.

The aim of the P22 and its volunteers is to tell the story of its involvement in the Cold War and keep the memory of all those involved alive for future generations.

We welcome everyone on board, whether it be individuals, family groups, ex-service personnel, active service personnel, local organisations, corporate groups, or education organisations, indeed, whoever you are we would be delighted to welcome you.

Voluntary donations are always welcome to support the upkeep of this charitable organisation.
